Μοuthpiece of the hookah


From this wonderful song, with lyrics by my beloved Lefteris Papadopoulos, I learned the word MARKOUTSI, which as far as I can tell refers specifically to the mouthpiece and hose of the hookah, and comes from Persian through Turkish. English does not have a special word for this (yet).

μαρκούτσι < τουρκική markuç (τοπική διάλεκτος) < marpuç < περσική مارپيچ (mārpīc)
